Thanks, John. You’re correct all the way through. Glory is superb; one of the few Civil War movies that gets it right.

You mention lack of identification, such as dog tags. Later in the war, I think during the Wilderness campaign, men began writing their names and hometowns on pieces of paper and pinning them inside their jackets. Just in case.
